Locks Heath community governance established

c. 2008

The establishment of formal community governance structures for the Locks Heath area gave residents a mechanism for engaging with local decision-making and advocating for the village's interests within the broader Fareham Borough Council framework. Ward councillors representing Locks Heath on the borough council provide a political voice for the community, and various residents' associations and community groups supplement the formal democratic channels. The creation of these governance structures reflected the maturing of Locks Heath from a new housing development into a settled community with its own identity, concerns and aspirations. Traffic, parking, school places, healthcare capacity and the maintenance of green spaces have been the recurring themes of community discussion.
