Coldeast redeveloped into luxury residential housing

c. 2003

The redevelopment of the Coldeast site in the early 2000s transformed the former hospital into a premium residential development. The original Coldeast House was converted into luxury flats, retaining period features including the facade, entrance hall and principal rooms. New-build houses and apartments were constructed in the parkland grounds, creating a mixed development that combined historic architecture with modern housing. Coldeast Way was built to serve the new community, and the mature trees and landscaped grounds gave the development a distinctive character quite different from the standard 1970s housing that surrounds it. The Coldeast development is now one of the more desirable residential addresses in the Locks Heath area, commanding property prices that reflect the quality of the setting.
