Recent developments and the modern village

2020s

The 2020s have brought further change to Locks Heath, though at a more modest pace than the transformative decades of the 1970s and 1980s. Infill development on individual plots and small sites has added housing within the established village boundary. The shopping village has seen tenant turnover as the retail landscape continues to shift, with some traditional shops replaced by service businesses and food outlets. Broadband upgrades have improved connectivity, supporting the growth of home working. The Coldeast development has matured into a settled neighbourhood. The ongoing management of traffic congestion, school capacity, healthcare provision and green spaces continues to require attention from residents, councillors and council officers. Locks Heath enters the mid-2020s as a settled, family-oriented suburban village with the strengths and challenges common to communities of its type across southern England.
