Coldeast

Premium residential development on a converted hospital estate with mature grounds

The Coldeast area occupies the site of the former Coldeast Hospital, which operated from 1905 until its closure in 1996. The original Coldeast House, a substantial country residence, has been converted into luxury flats, and new-build houses and apartments have been constructed in the grounds. The development has a distinctive character, with mature trees, landscaped grounds and the architectural presence of the historic house setting it apart from the standard 1970s housing that predominates elsewhere in Locks Heath. Coldeast Way is the main access road, and the development is considered one of the more desirable residential addresses in the area. The parkland setting and the retention of original features give Coldeast a sense of place that is unusual in a village built predominantly during the post-war suburban boom.
